Runway My Way: Acne S/S 11 Ready To Wear

Today's Runway My Way post comes from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection of Acne. Acne is a brand known for being distinct without falling victim to too many major trends. Many celebrities adore their clothing, yet when I viewed the collection, I saw no truly distinct outlandish pieces. Well, to me, I still adore Acne, because of the simplicity and the beautiful shapes they provide. Spring 2011 was a collection that I could have seen myself wearing the whole summer her in Florida. The color palette was pretty basic: black, red, cream, beige, white, navy, and silver. However, the collection still made an impact with shapes and cuts, reminding me of the 90s grunge look but without all of the drastic darkness of it all. It was hard to pick one look to recreate, because I loved practically all of them. However, I did chose one look in particular, look #2

I love how sexy yet relaxed this look is. This is the perfect look for Florida because it's usually so damn hot. So, it was pretty easy for me to recreate this look. Here's how it turned out:
Wearing a Worthington white blazer, Old Navy beige and white striped tank, Old Navy white shorts, ASOS beige buckle wedges, and a pair of gifted gold studs.
I tried to make sure I maintained the colors, pieces, and concepts of the original look within my recreated look. I wanted a bold neutral shoe that would pair well with the neutral tank, as well as a short suit. This look is pretty easy to recreate. Here's basically what you need:
1. Neutral short suit, preferably white. I loved the idea of a short suit, it's a perfect way to be casual yet pulled together in the spring and summer. A white suit is great but if white scares you like it does me, a neutral color suit would be great. Khaki, beige, tan, even brown works well to maintain the natural feel of the look. Also, look for shorts that fit you best. If high waisted aren't your thing, try a low waist slouchy pair. If short shorts don't make you feel comfy, wear a bermuda short. The key is to have the jacket and shorts match to give the illusion of a suit.
2. A basic tank top. Everyone should own some basic tank tops, whether you live in Florida or Alaska. Sure you can't walk around in just a tank top in Alaska, but they make great layering pieces nonetheless. For this look, a white or beige one works perfectly, but for recreating it in other color palettes, just make sure they coordinate. Matching exactly worked here because the original look did, but I'm a self-promoter of coordination, not matching.
3. A neutral sandal completes the entire look. The final touch is to include a sandal that falls within the neutral color palette of the look. Whichever color palette you choose, just make sure to keep something neutral, and the shoes are a great way to do so. By keeping the shoes neutral, you can play with as many colors as you want.

Here's some more looks from Acne that I enjoyed:
