Reality Check (Explicit Content)

Girl, what the hell are you thinkin?
Putting out for every dude that you fienin
You need to get it together
Don't you know you can do better
Don't fall hard just cause he say he can get it wetter
Please, dudes always stay trippin
Do you even know how many chicks he been kissin
I bet he ain't even just stop at the lips
So basically you kissing other females past they hips

Girl, get yourself together
Cause these dudes out here are just like stormy weather
I can't even lie, I was a fool for a few
Did things that I thought I'd never do
But I'm learning from my mistakes
Even though it seems too late
I got another life to maintain
This shit it ain't a game
 You have to protect yourself
Cause dudes won't protect you
Girl you better check yourself
Or these boys will trap you
You'll be locked down taking care of someone all by your lonesome
While he goes out and continues to get his munch on
Honestly it's not even worth the stress
Even if he got a sexy ass chest
Eventually his ass gone look like shit
And you gone be wondering, damn what happened to his dick
It's all shriveled up, and it ain't worth shit
And you might wanna get a test cause he's looking mad sick
Please girl, just protect you mind, body, and soul
Or you gone end up like how the old story goes
The one who had her mind right and was headed for success
Is now struggling to find her own happiness
A baby is not a joke that shit is reality
But my daughter is helping to find the good in me
Or maybe it's not just the good that I need
I'm definitely tryna find the God in me
He's there in my heart tryna find His way to my mind
I know He will get there in due time
Until then I'ma keep talkin my real shit
Cause there's a lot of young girls that need to hear this
Most dudes aint' shit and they don't give a fuck
But there's a select few out there you can find if you have luck
The few that respect women, and respect their own decisions
Not tryna blind women with false intentions
This is the real deal, I'm just speaking my truth
I'm not a rapper, but this space is my booth
So I'ma stop right here, and let this story end
But don't worry, I'll be coming back again

About The Poem: This is actually a poem I wrote back in 2008, when I was dealing with a guy who wasn't treating me right. I was so angry and needed a safe outlet, so I hit my MySpace blog (which my account has been deleted). I found some of my writing in my email and I really wanted to share it. There may someone dealing with a crappy relationship, but at the end of the day, someone who is real and true will make their way to you.

About The Outfit: I was running late for work and really just threw it together. I always try to wear a blazer to work, and this yellow one was the perfect pop of color. I also wanted to try mixing neutrals, such as brown, beige, and grey. The white blouse is always a go-to for quickly dressing for work. Turbans have been my loyal friend since my hair is not quite up to par. But I'll be getting it done soon. Until then, hats are my best friend :)

It's so weird. It doesn't feel like Christmas. It's hot outside, and I'd rather wear shorts and t-shirts than my fur vest or trench coat :/ The joys of living in Florida. I hope everyone who is on winter break from school and/or work is having an amazing time!

What is everyone hoping to get this year for Christmas? Are you ready for the after-Christmas sales? Also, for those who celebrate Kwanza and Hanukkah, I hope you all have a great celebration as well.

Peace, Love, and Happiness!

  1. *snaps fingers* this poem is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO true. Unfortunately, many women are blind sighted by trifling men and you are spitting the real. Thanks for this!! ALSO.... loving the outfit!! That blazer is giving me all kinds of life. I love seeing brights and neutrals. I must try sometime soon!

  4. Loove this ensemble. It's something about neutral colors that just make a bold statement. Great blazer too.
