Oh Caged Bird

Oh caged bird, with your sorrowful song.
Must your face look so sad and long.
I know you're depressed because you can't spread your wings.
I know how you feel, I feel the same things.

Some days I feel trapped and lost in this world.
I wonder why can't I go back to being a little girl.
I sigh as the days continue to pass,
Hoping one day my sadness won't last.
Waking up early, dreading the day.
Wondering will I ever get to be lazy and lay.
Up late at night due to insecurities
About after college life...how will I raise my little family?
Looking for the answer to my fears within.
And as my anxiety rises. my patience wears thin.
I feel as though I'm not doing well at all.
Like in the next moment, I will take a great fall.
I pray for my soul, and for my family too.
I pray that one day I won't feel so blue.
I pray for the days when the sun will shine again.
And happiness will no longer be a fair weather friend.
Oh caged bird, you don't have to sing your song.
Your frown will go away, your face won't be long.
Say goodbye to depression, you're free to spread your wings.
And I'll be behind you, doing the same thing.

About The Poem: I was inspired by the dress and also expressing feelings that I sometimes have. There are just some days where I feel so sad, but I always find a way to pick myself back up. I know that this too shall pass, and the storm doesn't last forever. I may be going through rough times but I know I can push through. I wrote this not just for my own therapeutic purposes, but for any person who feels that they too are a caged bird, and wish to be free. YOU CAN BE FREE! You can free yourself, whether you believe it or not. The strength lies within you.

About The Outfit: I wore this to work yesterday. I originally wore gold flats and my black tote bag, but had I not been rushing, I would have wore these booties. I actually never realized they had an athletic appeal to them, which sneaker wedges are currently back on trend. I may do a fashion post about how to rock the trend soon so be on the look out for that. I love this dress! I saw it on Forever 21 online in the plus size section, and it reminded me of the heavy bird/cat trend that was hot a few seasons back. Well, I am one to always rock a trend whether it's popular now or not, so I decided to buy the dress. I have actually gone down a size in their clothes so I was excited to order the dress. I added the belt to cinch my waist in. I added a burgundy clutch and wore a dark lipstick just to go with the tones in the outfit. My outfits are ever complete without some type of 80s jewelry or gaudy accessories. But I feel like these are toned down. Maybe it's the nature of the dress.

I need to get started on homework, but I wanted to share some pictures I took the day I took these photos. I really want to take out time to take photos of her when she's at her most stylish, but being in uniforms 5 days a week makes it hard. It's even harder when on the weekend, all you want to do is sleep lol. So, I took the chance to capture her when she's the most happy...outside riding her Barbie bike and pretending to be Mommy lol.
