Fashion Event: One Chance Entertainment Presents Evolution of Curves Fashion Show Tour and Charity Event

I took the opportunity of a lifetime to purchase a VIP ticket to my first official fashion show in NYC. On October 10, 2010 (yep, that's 10-10-10), One Chance Entertainment held one of the most unforgettable fashion shows this side of W 26th Street In Manhattan. The Evolution of Curves Fashion Show Tour, hosted by Joanne Borgella, winner of Mo'Nique's first season of "Fat Chance" and a former American Idol contestant, was held at Stepping Out Studios at 37 West 26th Street, New York, NY. She looked amazing in a red and black combination, perfect for the humanitarian cause of the evening.

The show featured the following plus size designers:
Re/Dress NYC
My Hunney (S Collection)
Jessica Pritchett (Couture Shoes)
Arturo Rios (Couture Hat Collection)
Re/Dress NYC- Pocketbook
Majestic Couture
Re/Dress NYC- Vintage
Forever 21 Plus (formerly known as Faith 21)

The evening began with an a dance performance by the Evolution Dance Team (members form both Miami and NYC). They performed a dance number which unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the song. However, when I tell you those girls can move. Every plus size woman should not be afraid to dance just because they think they are too big. Here's a sample video of one of their dances (not from the show unfortunately)

Here's some photos of the dance intro from the show!

The most important part of the night was when Sandy JeanPhilippe and her mother, founders of the Haiti Cherie Heritage and C.A.T.C.H. Foundation, spoke about both charities. Haiti Cherie Heritage is an organization working towards building house up back in JeanPhilippe's native home of Haiti. It was touching to see such a strong woman feel so passionate about helping her people to begin again. The tickets for the event went to both foundations. The C.A.T.C.H. Foundation is all about helping young women embrace their curves and to love themselves for who they are. It it geared towards helping the youth (girls ages 9-12) build self esteem through activities such as dance classes and other outings. It also teaches plus size women how to stay healthy and fit, not necessarily skinny and dieting. Both foundations are amazing and necessary in this time where it seems not much aid is going to either.

Of course, the fashion show was spectacular! The styling, done by Shanta L. Alexander, was not just fierce and fabulous, but was also wearable in real life (yes, including the Re/Dress NYC-Vintage looks). I was amazed and thrilled to see these size sexy women walk the runway with as much confidence as the sample size models do on the runways of Paris, NYC, and Milan. Every woman was walking with their shoulders up and head held high, and you can tell that everyone in the room knew they were confident in their curves, and were not afraid to show it. All in all, I had an amazing time and was thrilled that Sandy Jeanphillipe allowed me to take a couple backstage photos. I met amazing models and curvy women in the fashion industry. It was an amazing opportunity and I hope to attend or even help with one myself :)

Here's photos from the show, I have the designers labeled as well :)
