This week's Runway My Way post was inspired by Balmain. Now, what I loved about Balmain was that the collection was very punk rocker, but still with glam. It reminded me of the Balenciaga collection, but this punk look was more Americanized, whereas Balenciaga gave me Euro-punk. Christophe Decarnin definitely left an impression on the audience with the various uses of studs and safety pins. However, some felt that this collection may not be worth the money that the pieces are going for. Some even say that this collection s very DIY
The look I decided to recreate is Look 10
This is how my re-creation came out:
Wearing a Forever 21+ black cropped tux jacket with silver shoulder embellishment, Old Navy black 3/4 sleeve tunic tee, Forever 21+ black and silver leopard print foil leggings, Target black round toe pumps, and Forever 21 silver and rhinestone jewel chandelier earrings
If you would like to recreate this look, here's some tips:
1. Black is essential. If you really want to get the vibe of this look, you definitely need to stick with the same colors. A black blazer, tux jacket, or leather jacket will work perfectly as the outwear part of the outfit. A black t-shirt and classic pumps also keep the look more sophisticated than all the way punk rocker.
2. Metallic pants aren't necessary. If you don't own metallic pants, it's ok. If you have any type of dark printed pants, or even a pair of printed leggings that you can wear with a basic black tunic, it will work. I happened to have metallic leggings, but if I had printed pants with a dark base, the look still would have been inspired :)
