Life Lesson

Before every big change in your life, you have that tiny bit of doubt.
What will people think of me if I do this?
What if I am discarded by society because I want to be different?
What if I lose loved ones because I just want to be me?

All of the worries that come with making a big change are normal.
Of course you are worried about what people think, it's human nature.
However , you should NOT allocate power over your life decision to others.
Unless, of course, it's a doctor or a professional. In that case, you probably should listen.
But I'm talking about the average Joe or Jane.
The one that always has a negative thing to say when you want to do something different.
Whether it's buying that awesome 80s ugly sweater, wearing black lipstick, reading certain books...
The list goes on, but I'm sure you get my point.
You should never let someone who is resistant to change affect your decisions.
Otherwise, you will be just like them, allowing society to dictate their life.
Waiting for a celebrity to rock a certain shoe, waiting for their friends to get a certain hairstyle,
Allowing Facebook to be your only news source, again, you get my point.
As for the people that continue to throw shade at you, pardon the language, but fuck them!
Don't let someone's opinion stop you from being who you truly are.
Chances are the person who is hating is envious because you have something they want and don't have.
My suggestion: Accept the haters as another group of supporters and keep it moving.
The most important life lesson you can learn is "Live life for yourself."
Yes, we have families, kids, jobs, friends, lovers, school, co-workers, and bosses.
But at the end of the day, you cannot live your life for them.
So, put on that black lipstick, ugly 80s sweater, and live life happy as hell.

About the poem: I have just been so filled with inspirational words lately. As I've said, writing is sort of like my therapy. I am actually working possibly doing a separate blog for my poetry since a lot of people seem to enjoy it :) I will keep you all updated on that in 2012. I have been feeling a little anxious about some changes I am making and some people have indirectly thrown shade at me. It's fine, because I truly believe what I write. I refuse to let someone else's insecurities about their situation in life affect my decisions.

About the outfit: Yet another lazy day. I swear, I never knew how comfortable this was until I threw it on and ran errands in it. I suggest everyone try the boyfriend long tee and leggings look at least once. It's sort of an old look but being that I'm usually working, I never have time to rock it. I added my leopard boots for a dash of sass and the parka because I wanted to make sure my ass was covered no matter what moves I made. The red lip, well, a colorful lip is something I try to add to any look.

Again, I want to mention that I do have a giveaway going on. It takes 5 seconds to follow the blog and roughly 10 seconds to leave a comment on the post. And if you win, you get a colorful lipstick. How much easier could the giveaway get? Hurry and enter because it does end at 12am New Year's Day.

Thanks for tuning in today. I have a hair appointment today to get this wig split (yes, I said wig split, I am an old lady at heart). I hope everyone enjoys their last Friday of 2011.

Peace, Love, and Happiness!

P.S. I am on Tumblr too. Check me out!
