Today (as in yesterday) ended traumatically with a huge cockroach entering my room. It took 15 minutes to kill him because...my room is a mess. So, right now, I'm supposed to be cleaning, but I wanted to write a post so bad. So, I am posting Part Two of "You Betta Work Honey" for New York Fashion Week.  We will start off with...

Brian Reyes

Brian Reyes gave me the color and prints I love :) The body-conscious dress is still a prevalent trend within most of the designers for S/S. I also love the high waist shorts and blouson tops with them, very flattering for my figure. I love the prints in his collection, definitely something I would wear on a daily basis and switch up accessories and wear it out at night.

Derek Lam

I am new to watching the runway shows or looking at pictures before. However, I have seen Derek Lam's pieces on many celebrities, so I felt obligated to check out his show. When I say I fell in love, the dresses, the shorts, the colors, the prints, it all screamed "I Love You Sarah!" :). I love the floral prints he used, as well as the detailed piping on the skirts, striped items, belted looks, and the uses of leather accessories and scarves.

Jill Stuart

Jill Stuart's collection was something that caught my attention. With the daring sheer materials and pops of color in blue, green, and pink, it's no wonder it got my attention. The bold shoulder, which is another common trend among designers and celebs, is neatly done with this blazer, giving her a more polished look.

Nicole Miller

Nicole Miller's collection is youthful yet sophisticated. Her line features watercolor prints, bold shoulder pieces, and pencils skirts. The details are what makes her pieces pop. From zippers to sequins, the line is just beautiful.  Leather also plays a role in the show as a jacket or accessory. Something that I found interesting was that the collection did not feature a multitude of colors. The collection mainly featuired black and white, with color accents. For a S/S collection, it's different, but I like it. Great collection!

Tory Burch

The Tory Burch collection features tailored suiting, mini dresses, denim, and skirts. The pops of color also give the collection a little something to the fashionista's eye. I love the bold prints he used for the collection. I wish fall existed here :/. The collection features basics that can be updated from day looks to evening ensembles. Embellishment with sequins is key if you want to be the center of attention. I'm currently on the search for something different. I give the collection a thumbs-up!

Rebecca Taylor

The Rebecca Taylor Collection features mini dresses, full skirts, pencil skirts, and cop pants. Some of the skirts were done in a high waist fashion. The collection did not just stick to one particular print. The collection featured animal print, florals, stripes, and polka dots, all strategicaly combined with solid items. Some dresses featured pelpum accents, white skirts were mainly pencil and high waisted. I fell in love wit a few of the looks, mainly because, as a whole, the collection could be flattering to most body types. When I say this, I mean there is somthing in the collection for everybody.

  1. the body con trend on the runway is finally coming to an end, thank goodness...i'm so happy to see designers embrace an idea other than one derived from decarnin's recent collections. what did you think of rodarte? i practically died at the amazingness.

  2. I enjoyed Rodarte. I mean, the colors mad eme fall in love, and I love the flow andc movement of the dresses and gowns, a lot better than feeling like a pig in a blanket (although I do like the body-con in black for myself, lol).
